Awards & Opportunity

Competition Prizes

Finalists compete for significant cash awards, and the Gold Prize winner receives the career-building opportunity to perform with the Flint Symphony Orchestra.

The Gold Prize winner of the William C. Byrd Competition will receive $8,000. The first $4,000 is given immediately after the Competition along with a contract to perform with the Flint Symphony Orchestra. The remaining $4,000 will be awarded after the Flint Symphony Orchestra performance. Failure to fulfill this engagement would result in forfeiture of the $4,000. The silver prize is $4,000, and the Bronze prize is $2,500. Two other finalists will receive $1,000 prizes each.
